What is a health coach?

What is a Health Coach?

The World Health Organisation defines health as ‘a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being not merely an absence of disease or infirmity.’ Health, therefore, encompasses many aspects of our lives and should be something we nurture. To do this it is important to approach your personal care and well being holistically. This means paying attention to all aspects of your life that might impinge on your health and seeking support accordingly.

Health coaching, for example, is an important way for people to find personalized wellness plans to suit their unique needs. By using several different interventions that focus on advice, support, and motivation, health coaches hope to engender long-term, positive health changes in their clients. To do this they identify their client’s health values and goals, then work towards encouraging realistic behavioral changes to achieve them.

The Benefits

Health coaches help you design a health and wellness plan that works for you. It is specifically tailored to your individual needs, which makes the care and support you receive incredibly personal. Health coaches offer you accountability to reaching your goals. They encourage the small steps, which in time all add up. By approaching health and well being in this way, you will notice there is much less pressure in your life around ‘keeping well’. The health coach will partner you on your journey by bringing those unobtainable goals within reach. In areas where you lack motivation, a health coach can be there to inspire the change you want to see.

How health coaching works at with us?

At Viavi:be and tops:health, health coaches will be there to support you and your training goals. They will guide you through a tailored resistance training program, where you will learn how to get the best out of your training and equipment. Not only this, but they will also show you how to train efficiently, which in turn will progress muscle growth and reduce fat. This physical development is vital at any age since it helps maintain a healthy lifestyle and staves off disease.

They are trained to take your vitals, such as blood pressure, strength, and how much fat you are carrying. With this information, they will able to highlight successes and changes in your fitness plan—highlighting how your health improves with time and training, and what physical difference it is making.

Our Health Coach will give you space to discuss any injuries and issues you may have, whilst showing you how to safely use the equipment in the gym. Recovery takes time and adequate rest, without it you might be more prone to injury or muscle strain. By talking to our health coach you can also air any life stresses or pressures that may hinder recovery time, they can then support you to make small changes that may improve your lifestyle and training goals.

Above all, our health coach will be friendly and kind. They will listen to your needs without judgment, and make sure you have a carefully curated fitness plan that will enable you to make healthy and informed changes to your health and well being.
