Since graduating from Keele University in 2004, Lucy has worked across a wide range of clinical settings within the NHS in Salisbury, London, and Oxford. Lucy has extensive experience in cancer services, working as a clinical specialist in Head and Neck Cancer at Guy’s Cancer Centre between 2009 and 2014, and leading the Oncology, Haematology and Palliative Care physiotherapy service in Oxford Cancer and Haematology Centre between 2014 and 2019. Lucy has specialist skills and experience in supporting people who are undergoing treatment for cancer from diagnosis through to ‘survivorship’, and also in palliative care/end of life settings.
Lucy has worked with cancer charities in Oxfordshire, delivering education sessions on fatigue/energy, safe exercise, and physical activity, for local support groups.
Working within the Plastic Surgery team at Oxford University Hospitals between 2019 and 2021, Lucy has developed expertise in post operative rehabilitation after reconstructive surgery (including after cancer surgeries) and delivering specialist physiotherapy interventions as part of cancer research trials.
Lucy has undertaken training in advanced communication skills, valuing a highly flexible and individualised approach to rehabilitation and providing a supportive and encouraging ear throughout every stage of illness and treatment.
