Niall has worked as a Senior Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist in the National Health Service, the Ministry of Defence, primary care and the private sector for many years. This has provided him with valuable experience in a variety of assessment and rehab settings, from complex patient management, rehabbing a mix of acute and chronic injury, to getting people fit and prepared for demanding daily, sport or operational roles.
Whether helping someone return to work, sport, or general activity after injury or surgery, Niall is dedicated to guiding his patients through recovery. While working in primary care Niall further developed his musculoskeletal skills and knowledge qualifying as an Independent Prescriber and Injection Practitioner for a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions. These advanced skills when used judiciously can provide an opportunity for patients to engage in rehab and progress their recovery once pain is more tolerable.
“I get great satisfaction seeing patients return to the activities they enjoy doing without pain. I’m grateful to work with a great team at TOPS where we can provide evidence based and progressive rehab swiftly, avoiding unnecessary delays to recovery’’.
Niall values collaboration so to ensure excellent patient-centred care will liaise closely with the wider TOPS team, Consultants in Orthopaedics, Rheumatology, Sports and Exercise Medicine, Pain Management, medical General Practitioners (GP), and other multidisciplinary team members.
Niall places a significant emphasis on obtaining a detailed and timely diagnosis for each patient. This has led to a special interest in integrating ultrasound imaging into his musculoskeletal practice. He is currently training to become a Diagnostic Musculoskeletal Sonographer to enhance patient care.
Niall lives with his wife, young son and daughter in Bicester. In his (very limited) spare time he keeps fit with running exceptionally slow, lifting relatively light weights and having a stretch on the floor for an extended period in the vein hope of feeling less old!
