We will be opening our clinics for face to face appointments from Monday 1st June, however, online video appointments will remain our first point of contact.
Despite the uncertain and unprecedented challenges we are all currently facing, people are still getting injured, still in pain and still need valuable Physiotherapy advice and support. The NHS has understandably scaled back all non-essential services, out patient physiotherapy being one of them. The result of this is that there is heavily reduced support available for musculoskeletal injuries.
Although we aren’t with you in person and can’t provide ‘hands on’ assessments and therapy, we can still carry out a comprehensive assessment of your injury and help with your recovery.
Who are online appointments for?
If you have not been to a physiotherapist before you may not be aware of what occurs during an online appointment. An online appointment is appropriate for those who have:
> A new pain or injury and want a diagnosis of what’s causing it and help to recover
> An existing injury and your symptoms aren’t settling
> Previously received treatment with tops:health and want to continue your recovery
> A longstanding condition and it’s being affected by being less active whilst in lockdown
> Had recent surgery and your post-op physiotherapy has now been stopped
> Been working from home and your new ‘office’ set up is causing you neck, back, shoulder or arm problems
How will an online appointment help me?
The aim of Physiotherapy is:
> To help identify the cause, nature and issues relating to your specific symptoms so you can understand exactly what’s going on
> Educate and advise you on the best way of managing your injury
>To use a range of treatments and exercises to help relieve your symptoms, improve your mobility and improve your strength and help you recover quickly and prevent future injuries.
What does an online appointment involve?
We use a secure online platform through our dedicated practice management software. However if you don’t have a computer with a video or a smartphone, we can also provide a telephone assessment and advice to assist you.

> 24 hours before your appointment, you should receive an appointment reminder which will include the link to your online video appointment.
> At your appointment time, have your email open and click on the link which will take you through to your online appointment.
> The Physiotherapist, will introduce them self, ask you lot’s of questions and get you to perform movements or tests to help identify what’s going on.
> They will then explain what the diagnosis is and give you opportunity to ask any questions.
> They will give you a comprehensive treatment plan, which may include self treatment techniques, an exercise programme, and any other advice to assist you.
> Any further appointments needed can be booked.
> After your appointment you will be sent a detailed exercise program and an invoice which you can pay online or over the phone on card.
